Athlete status and gender strongly influence CMR T1 mapping times: an athlete-control study

چکیده

Abstract Background/Introduction In the general population, cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) T1 mapping is an established tool used for tissue characterisation. Such characterisation of particular interest in athletes, as differentiation “grey zone” between physiological adaptation to sports and myocardial pathology can be highly challenging. To correctly interpret individual times, times are conventionally compared with normal values derived from healthy controls. However, whether these normative applied elite who commonly demonstrate most extreme adaptation, unknown. Purpose determine there gender-specific differences athletes Methods This study a cross-sectional assessment included ELITE-cohort. ELITE includes at national, international, Olympic level Netherlands, aged sixteen years or older without history cardiovascular disease. All undergo standard periodic preparticipation screening (Phillips 1.5 Tesla), including native mapping. For current study, we controls per gender group. inversion were calculated Circle Cardiovascular software (v5.12); means global segmented myocardium, according AHA 16-segment model, determined using R (v4.1.4). Results A total 81 (35 women, 43.2%) median (IQR) age 26 (22.0–29.55) 55 (27 49.1%), mean 38.4±15 (Table 1). Overall, markedly shorter (959±21.1ms vs. 984±26.6ms, P<0.001). difference was also present both women (athletes 968±18.5ms vs 999±26.5ms, P<0.001) men 952±20.3ms 970±18.0ms, We observed within athlete (men 968±18.5ms, control group 984±26.6ms Gender specific consistent basal-, mid- apical slices, well across all 16 segments (Figure panels B). Conclusion(s) Athletes controls, men. Sex-specific, athlete-normative should taken into account when interpreting undergoing evaluation. Desire of Athlete and Non-athlete Students to Drugs Use

The purpose of this study was to evaluate and compare athlete and non-athlete students’ tendency to drug use. 240 undergraduate students of University of Kurdistan with ages ranging from 19 to 23 years who had the experience of regular exercise (n = 120) and non-athlete ones (n = 120) were selected as the sample. Relapse Prediction Scale (RPS) was used for data collection. To analyze data, de...

Comparison of Alexithymia in Athlete and Non-Athlete Students

Today, researchers consider sports as one of the methods of reinforcement in the development of psychological parameters. The aim of the present study was to compare the alexithymia and its components, in athletes and non-athletic adolescents. Its components consist of difficulty in identifying feelings (DIF), difficulty in describing feelings (DDF), and externally oriented thinking (EOT). The ...

T1 Mapping by CMR Imaging

Fro Ge He Sie infl La Ph Ma OBJECTIVES The purpose of this study was to prospectively investigate the diagnostic and prognostic impact of cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) T1 mapping and validate it against left ventricular biopsies. BACKGROUND Extracellular volume (ECV) expansion is a key feature of heart failure. CMR T1 mapping has been developed as a noninvasive technique to estimate ECV; how...

Sarcoidosis in an Athlete

BACKGROUND Sarcoidosis is a multisystem granulomatous disorder of unknown etiology, characterized by "noncaseating granulomas" in different organs. Clinical signs are variable and dependent on the organ involved. Although it is often asymptomatic in athletes, considering the high level of athletic performance and the related risks due to the potential heart involvement, a particular diagnostic ...
